  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the kidney beans, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 30 minutes, or until the flavors have melded.
  5. Serve hot, topped with your favorite chili toppings, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, onions, or cilantro.

For a classic chili, I’d recommend shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onions, and a dollop of sour cream. It’s a winning combination!
