Chili Parlor Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the kidney beans, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 30 minutes, or until the flavors have melded.
- Serve hot, topped with your favorite chili toppings, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, onions, or cilantro.
For a classic chili, I’d recommend shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onions, and a dollop of sour cream. It’s a winning combination!
