This Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe creates tender chicken cutlets stuffed with Swiss cheese and ham, coated in a crispy, seasoned breadcrumb mixture, and baked until golden brown. It is an elegant and satisfying meal that is surprisingly easy to prepare.

How To Make Classic Baked Chicken Cordon Bleu:

  1. Step 1: Prep the Chicken: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish. Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap. Using a meat mallet, gently pound the chicken until it is thin (about 41​ inch).
  2. Step 2: Assemble: Lay one slice of Swiss cheese and one slice of deli ham on each pounded chicken breast. Roll the chicken up tightly around the fillings and secure the rolls with toothpicks if needed.
  3. Step 3: Breading Stations: Set up three shallow dishes:
    • Dish 1: All-purpose flour.
    • Dish 2: Beaten eggs.
    • Dish 3: Mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Step 4: Bread the Chicken: Dredge each chicken roll first in the flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it in the egg mixture, making sure it’s fully coated.
