Creamy Skillet Green Bean Casserole is a quick, stovetop version of the traditional baked green bean casserole. It’s a comfort food dish made with:
- Green beans (canned, frozen, or fresh)
- A creamy sauce, usually from cream of mushroom soup and sometimes sour cream or milk
- Ground meat (like beef or turkey) for added protein
- Seasonings like garlic, onion, salt, and pepper
- Optionally topped with cheese or crispy onions
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter or oil
1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
1 small onion, diced (optional)
2 cans (14.5 oz each) cut green beans, drained
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup sour cream (or milk/heavy cream for thinner sauce)
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1/4 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
Optional: shredded cheddar cheese or crispy fried onions for topping
Instructions:
- Cook meat:
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter or heat oil. Add diced onion (if using) and sauté until soft. Add ground meat and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed. - Add green beans:
Stir in the drained green beans and cook for 2–3 minutes. - Make it creamy:
Lower heat and add the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream (or milk/cream). Stir well to combine. - Season:
Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste. - Simmer:
Let it simmer for 5–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until everything is heated through and the sauce is creamy. - Optional toppings:
For extra flavor, sprinkle with shredded cheese and let it melt. Or top with crispy fried onions just before serving.
