Moist Chocolate Bundt Cake Recipe

This rich and moist chocolate Bundt cake is a show-stopper! Perfect for birthdays, holidays, or anytime you’re craving chocolate.


Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 cup (240 ml) boiling water

¾ cup (65 g) unsweetened cocoa powder

2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour

1 ½ tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened

2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 cup (240 ml) sour cream (or plain yogurt)

2 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Chocolate Glaze:

1 cup (170 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream

1 tbsp butter


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10- or 12-cup Bundt pan very well.
  2. Make the cocoa mixture:
    In a small bowl, whisk cocoa powder with boiling water until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
  3. Dry ingredients:
    In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Cream butter and sugar:
    In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes). Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Combine wet ingredients:
    Mix in sour cream and vanilla. Stir in the cooled cocoa mixture until fully blended.
  6. Mix in dry ingredients:
    Add the dry ingredients gradually, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  7. Bake:
    Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan. Tap gently on the counter to remove air bubbles.
    Bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool:
    Let cake cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then carefully turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Optional Glaze:
    Heat cream and butter in a saucepan until steaming. Pour over chocolate chips and let sit for 1 minute. Stir until smooth. Let it cool slightly, then drizzle over the cooled cake.

Tips

Make sure the Bundt pan is greased thoroughly to avoid sticking.
