Donuts are a type of fried pastry, typically in the shape of a ring, that can be found in various flavors and toppings. They are made from a sweet dough that is fried until golden brown and fluffy on the inside. They can be coated with sugar, glaze, or chocolate, and often have fillings like cream, jam, or chocolate. They are a popular dessert enjoyed in many parts of the world.
Ingredients:
500 g of wheat flour
7 g of dry yeast (or 20 g of fresh yeast)
200 ml of warm milk
50 g of sugar
1 egg
50 g of melted butter
A pinch of salt
Oil for frying
Sugar for sprinkling

Preparation:
- In a bowl, mix the warm milk with the yeast and a teaspoon of sugar. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes until it foams.
- Add the egg, melted butter, and the rest of the sugar. Mix well.
- Gradually incorporate the sifted flour and salt, mixing until a homogeneous dough forms.
- Knead for 10-15 minutes until you get a smooth and elastic dough.
- Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- De-gas the dough (lightly pressing it) and divide it into portions.
- Form small balls and make a hole in the center with your fingers or a cutter.
- Let the shaped donuts rest for another 30 minutes.
- Heat plenty of oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Fry the donuts on both sides until golden (about 1-2 minutes per side).
- Remove them and place them on paper towels.
- While they are still warm, roll them in sugar so it sticks well.
